“…Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and
limited the Holy One of Israel….” Psa. 78:41 (KJV)
“…Again and again they tested God's
patience and frustrated the Holy One of Israel…” Psa. 78:41 (NLT)
God is all-powerful and God can do
all things, yet men have succeeded in limiting His ability in time past, like
the children of Israel did in the wilderness by their constant doubts and
rebellion against God… Though God created the earth and all in it, man
inclusive; yet He would often require the cooperation of man in carrying out
His perfect plan on the earth… Yes! God is limitless but God can be limited!
The limits of God are never set by
God Himself but by man… The strength of one’s relationship with God would
determine how much of God’s power one would experience… God never walks away
from the one who decides to stay with Him; rather we often encounter
difficulties in life when we choose to walk away from God… And God cannot because of His much love for
us decide to follow us in the way we have chosen to go nor will He alter His
principles to suit our choices… Rather; choosing, walking in, and remaining in
God’s way is our own conscious choice to make… He only stops walking with us
when we’ve stopped walking His way… He is an unchanging and unchangeable God,
He is constant and consistent in all His ways and dealings, but man is always
the variable… The Word says: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from
above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning.” James 1:17…
The sin of unbelief/doubt is one
that is capable of not only incurring the wrath of God but also limiting the
manifestation of His power and the fulfillment of His perfect will in one’s
life… Like with the children of Israel; reaching and dwelling in that promise
land was God’s perfect plan for them, yet the greatest challenge they were
faced with was not their many enemies neither was it the inability of their God
to see them through, rather their greatest undoing was their own inability to
trust wholly in and obey faithfully the One who promised them the land; and
therefore God was displeased with them and faced with His wrath, many were
destroyed and only a handful made it successfully to the land, not because God
enjoyed taking their lives but because God became limited and irritated by
their rebellion, hardheartedness ad stubbornness…
God’s Word is filled with lots of
promises for God’s children, but the fulfillment and manifestation of these
promises in our lives does not depend on our most and ever-dependable God, but
on our ability to have a resolute faith in Him, trusting Him unwaveringly to
keep to His Word of promise…
The fuel of doubt is fear and the
trigger of God’s power is faith… The Word says: “…it is impossible to please
God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that there is a
God and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.” Heb. 11:6 (NLT)… God’s
attention is only attractable by faith and God’s manifestation is only limit-able
by fear… Doubts grow by feeding on one’s fears while faith grows when one keeps
feeding on God’s Word… “So then faith cometh
by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Rom. 10:17… Fear increases when
you keep your eyes fixed on the size or weight of the issue at hand, while
faith increases when your eyes are fixed on God and in His unlimited ability… And
as long as one keeps feeding one’s fears by focusing more on the pitiable state
of the present prevailing circumstances rather than looking up to the One who has
promised and is more than able to save and see one through the temporal season
of trials and temptations, God remains powerless in the situation…
The Word says, speaking about Jesus:
“And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.” Matt. 13:58
(NIV)… This clearly indicates that the limitation on Christ’s performance was
not because the power was not present with Him but because the indispensable
faith requirement was absent in the hearts of many of the people in that city…
Therefore, the ineffectiveness or in-activeness of God’s power is often not a
sign of the absence of God’s presence in a place but an indication of the presence
of unbelief in the hearts of men… God’s power is activated when one’s faith is
released, and God’s purpose is accomplished when one’s doubts and fears are
disregarded…
The Word says: “Listen! The LORD is
not too weak to save you, and he is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you
call. But there is a problem—your sins have cut you off from God. Because of
your sin, he has turned away and will not listen anymore.” Isa. 59:1-2 (NLT)
Yes! God can do all things, but He does not do all things… God's ability is only limited by man's inability to fully trust
in His unlimited ability… Your relationship with God is an association that can
only survive with your full cooperation, if you must always have His attention
in any situation; and the main proof of your cooperation is you having and
maintaining a working and living faith in Him and in His Word, because God’s reaction can only be delayed by your own inaction,
and His power’s inactivity is often as a result of your faith’s dormancy… God’s
power stops working at the point where your faith stops working…
When God is treated as just one
of your options and not as your only option, then you put a limitation on His
function... He is not to be tried; rather He is to be trusted… A living faith says F.A.I.T.H - 'F'orsaking
'A'll 'I' 'T'rust 'H'im! The Psalmist says: “I wait for the Lord, I expectantly
wait, and in His word do I hope.” Psa. 130:5 (AMP)… A living faith does not have a dead hope; it rather
has a living hope which is based on no one and nothing else but on God and His
infallible Word of promise and truth…
Therefore, only one can render
the all-powerful God powerless in your life; YOU! So, take the limits off!
Nice Day Friends!
